William Shatner, a Canadian actor, and producer aged 87 just made some mysterious tweets which reveal his support for the ethereum creator, Vitalik Buterin.
Shatner, who is a famous icon for his role in the Star Trek TV series, initially tweeted a “thumbs up” to Buterin on Wednesday, which immediately became a discussion thread on tweeter.
One coder named “premine apologist” responded to Shatner’s tweet by commenting about Buterin that, “He’s a literal scammer”, further writing that developing decentralized technology on ethereum cannot be possible.
To respond to that, Shatner went further to defend the blockchain network, stating:
“Then as a coder – go develop your own blockchain technology where you can be 1000% sure of decentralization. Or shove money in a mattress. I hear that’s only overseen by the bed bug community.”
The coder later in the thread also described Buterin as “dangerous.” Shatner replied:
“His viewpoints don’t take into account the fact that the code has to be audited by an auditing firm and approved by a consortium or it doesn’t get accepted. He thinks it exists in a bubble. That’s why we have ERC-20, ERC-721… ERC-1701”
However, there are other comments on the thread that seems to be largely amazed by Shatner’s clear knowledge of the crypto world and that he was just putting out his perspectives out there.
One of the commentators tweeted: “OMG William Shatner is listing ERC standards in order to school a crypto troll.”
Shatner has spoken on blockchain and cryptocurrency on Twitter prior to this tweet. He stated in a tweet concerning ethereum and Buterin earlier this week that:
“@BobSummerwill the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance? Are we absolutely sure @VitalikButerin isn’t a Star Wars fan? I’ve heard rumors…some started by myself!”
Shatner first came into the crypto space limelight the previous year, when he announced the endorsement of token sales. Also, in June 2018, the actor made it public that he was standing for Solar Alliance, another energy developer that is intending to develop a solar-powered bitcoin mining industry in Illinois.
